After upgrading HPE Synergy Composer2 from 8.5 -> 8.60.01 -> 9.0 an error appeared on the compute module in bay 1 with message:
“Unable to configure the appliance’s server management user account on the management processor. This account is required for ongoing server management”
Resolution
Reset the ILO by going to Servers -> Server Hardware -> Select Compute Module -> Edit (icon) -> Reset ILO.
Refresh the compute module by Servers -> Server Hardware -> Select Compute Module ->. Edit (icon) -> Refresh
Note: This temporarily cleared the problem but the error re-occured so the blade was completely rebooted. The following message appeared on POST:
“270 – ILO FW Communication Issue – Unable to communicate with iLO FW.”
The compute module was then shutdown completely and then powered up which cleared the error permanently
